I was really down in the dumps, really low when Caroline came on board. I was sleeping rough, next to the university, I was in so much pain, and in fact I felt suicidal, I battled with thoughts of harming myself because I had no one, nothing, no friends, no family, and no support.
I couldn’t blame anyone else, without a doubt it was my own fault because of my drug use, but I had enough. I wanted to change I was sick of living this life.
Caroline has supported me through these hard times, she was there and still is, I can count on her. I have come a long way with Caroline’s support, I have had my leg removed, it was hard, but now I’m free of pain, I have a roof over my head, I’m applying for PIP, I haven’t touched drugs for months.
Caroline battled with everyone for me, really stuck her neck out, I had no one, now I have a social worker, have carers who help me, I even have a couple of friends. I am now looking forward to the future, who would have thought, I really can’t thank you enough.
Caroline is now helping me find a better property, a bungalow I would love, I am grateful. I now have a roof over my head, but I find it hard to get around the house in my wheelchair, that is my next goal.
Humankind worker comments - I am so proud of Craig and all he has achieved. He has stuck to his words, and although it has not been easy, he has managed to turn his life around. We still have some way to go, but with Craig’s commitment and my support there is no limit to what can be achieved.
