I would recommend volunteering to anybody

Volunteering has bridged the gap between the dark times in my life and the possibility of a brighter future.

I would recommend volunteering to anybody who is seeking to fill a void in their lives or to those who wish to give something back

I shadow a Recovery Coordinator in the day-to-day operation of her job. I also offer guidance and support to service users as a peer mentor. I provide proof of visible recovery within therapeutic interventions which empowers people to instigate changes in their lives.

I enjoy the face to face work with service users most of all. It is rewarding to offer a small amount of hope to those who are struggling in life.

My confidence has increased since I undertook the role and I feel much more ready to take the step into employment thanks to the opportunities that I have been afforded.

I have many more skills that I can employ in the workplace and also in daily life. I enjoy interacting in a ‘normal’ environment with my colleagues at the service and it makes me feel less isolated than I once did.

Volunteering has bridged the gap between the dark times in my life and the possibility of a brighter future.
