Improving social interaction for people with confidence issues
Moving On Tyne & Wear (MOTW) has recently secured a new partnership with the Tyne and Wear Museums and Archive Service to deliver training workshops that will improve social interaction for people with confidence issues.
The service, which supports participants to progress with training, education and employment, aims to encourage increased museum interaction by those local people who participate in MOTW's activities.
Local craft company, Craft-a-rella, has been commissioned to provide workshops lasting six weeks that look at fashion, recycling and clothes making. The participants will also have access to the archived assets of the Discovery Museum. The Museum Service is providing a room for the workshops to use for free.
The workshops will focus on designing and making a period costume from scratch. At the end of the workshops, the designs completed by the students will go on display within the museum. The first course started on the 21st of May and so far has had excellent feedback from the participants.
