Volunteering with the Insight Young People’s Service

I found the experience challenging as I was entering into people’s chaos but rewarding as I got to see them develop and grow.

I had lost some close friends due to drugs and I knew it wasn’t easy to walk away from the lifestyle that goes with it.

There are a lot of people struggling in our local communities - London is such a busy place that some people get forgotten.

I volunteered to work with young drug users at Insight Young People’s Service. To help them understand the risks and consequences of their lifestyle choices. I supported people through difficult stages of their lives and help them find their way back into society. I encouraged them to make positive changes so that they no longer feel the need to depend on drugs and alcohol to get them through life.

When I was volunteering, I worked with people who had been outcast from society. I enjoyed being a positive part of their lives. I found the experience challenging as I was entering into people’s chaos but rewarding as I got to see them develop and grow.

I got to be part of something that I was not so familiar with. I am now full time with Insight Young People’s Service.
