Director of Strategic Corporate Projects
Professional Background & Relevant Experience
I have worked in the 3rd sector for over 33 years and for 22 of those, I have worked for Humankind. Throughout my career I have gained experience of Community Safety, Victims of Crime, Children and Young People, Quality, Corporate Services, Employment Services, setting up of new contracts for Substance Misuse Services and leading on organisational Quality Marks such as Investors in People, Investing in Volunteers, Equality North East accreditation, and Care Quality Standards.
How I Came to Work at Humankind
After leaving British Coal I started to work in community relations and neighbourhood watch within the Police, meeting residents in high crime areas and assisting in setting up new initiatives to reduce the fear of crime. After that I then moved on to Victim Support before applying for a Community Safety post within the Humankind, building upon my experience of working with victims of crime.
What I Enjoy About Working at Humankind
I have recently moved into the new role of Director of Strategic Corporate Projects and after all these years working for Humankind, I still feel proud of the organisation and what it has achieved in giving vulnerable individuals and communities a chance to recognise their potential and thrive.
