I have over 25 years of working in substance misuse services starting from my early days as a Registered Mental Nurse on an acute admission ward. My passion took me from the hospital wards to a frontline service in Liverpool where I gained experience in working with people living with addiction, homelessness and suffering diseases of poverty. My career has taken me from the frontend of services to management roles, these encompassed Service Manager, Operational Director roles and eventually Director of Nursing. Along the way I have gained a management qualification and an advance diploma in counselling.
A position for Director for Nursing came available within the organisation and after reading the job specification I felt, my experience and passion for the people we serve was a good fit.
I liked the organisation and felt
that their values and aspirations for the service user group mirrored my own. I
saw an opportunity to work with other passionate and dedicated people in
developing and driving forward quality services. I maintain my passion for
nursing within substance misuse, making treatment accessible and providing
services that support the health and wellbeing of both staff and service users.
