A Humankind service based in Bradford which provides short-term accommodation and support for the homeless has had its contract extended by Bradford Council.
The Bradford No Second Night Out Service (BNSNO), based at Discovery House, has been running since October 2015 and has provided emergency accommodation to over 750 clients during that time. A further 370 clients have accessed outreach support.
Bradford Council commissioner, Ian Bird said: “I was very pleased to be able to extend the NSNO contract for a further year. The service has provided an invaluable service to the most vulnerable client group in Bradford and has achieved many life changing outcomes for people.”
The service provides short-term accommodation and support with the aim of identifying appropriate move-on accommodation for all. BNSNO also co-ordinates the Bradford ‘CWP’ cold-weather scheme and additional accommodation is provided within the service as part of this.
The service also provides
outreach support to homeless clients, helping them with longer term housing
The extension will allow the
staff team to continue delivering support to entrenched rough sleepers in the
Bradford area, with the contract extension commencing from October 2019 until
12th October 2020.
