Chief Executive of Humankind Paul Townsley and Executive Director, Anna Headley were among scores of staff, volunteers and service users who enjoyed a grand day out at the annual national FAVOR Recovery Walk at the weekend.
Humankind was one of the sponsors of this year’s event in Shrewsbury which attracted around 8,000 people from all over the UK.
At the event, people in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse, their families and friends are encouraged to share their stories as a demonstration that long-term recovery is a reality in their lives.
Paul said: “We were very keen to sponsor the Recovery Walk and campaign as we have in the past. It is a fantastic event for people in recovery and for their families and friends.
“It is about listening to the stories of triumph over real adversity and of learning from people in recovery and from our colleagues in services around the country.”
The Humankind banner and those of drug and alcohol services led by Humankind was proudly displayed at the walk.
Humankind Services which took part included The Manchester Red bank Accommodation Service, Forward Leeds, North Yorkshire Horizons, Barnsley Recovery Steps, Calderdale Recovery Steps, County Durham Drug and Alcohol Service and South Tyneside Adult Recovery Service.
