Humankind's Gender Pay Gap Report

Developing a Gender Pay Gap Report for the government has given us much greater awareness of where we sit.

Humankind’s long held mission is to promote equality for all people, including our staff. Our values begin with fairness and equality of opportunity.

Developing a Gender Pay Gap Report for the government has given us much greater awareness of where we sit. The Humankind Gender Pay Gap (median) is 0.90%, compared to the national average of 18.10%.

Although the gap in pay is less than the national average, we aspire to have a 0% gender pay gap and will continue working to achieve this.

Our current proportion of female employees is 71% and male employees 29%.

The information given in this report is a true and accurate reflection of the organisation’s gender pay gap.

Our Statement

Humankind welcomes the Government’s reporting and we believe that promoting equal opportunity and ending all forms of discrimination is not only a human right, but it is key to the success of the organisation.

This statement has been published in accordance with the Gender Pay Gap Reporting regulations under the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017 which came into force on 6th April 2017.

The legislation requires UK employers with 250 or more employees to publish annual statutory calculations showing the pay gap between male and female employees.

Our Report

The gender pay gap is not the same as equal pay. Equal pay ensures that men and women receive the same pay for carrying out the same work, or equivalent work. The gender pay gap is a simple average figure for all employees in the Humankind workforce, irrespective of the job that they do.

In line with reporting guidelines, the data reflects payments made in April 2017. The figures include the hourly rate for each relevant employee as defined by legislation.

At Humankind, the workforce demographic is typical for the social care voluntary sector, in that we employ a higher proportion of females to males.
