The Leeds recovery hub, 5 WAYS recently provided an afternoon of fun for clients visiting from the St. Anne’s Residential Rehabilitation Service.
Those attending were entertained by a magic show provided by Tony Sunderland from St. Anne’s. Lunch was provided on the roof terrace and the day ended with a quiz delivered by the Humankind CEO, Paul Townsley.
Paul said: ”It’s always great to be involved in days like today. It’s a chance for me talk to and learn from the 5 WAYS members that Humankind has supported in their recovery.”
He added: “Seeing those same people supporting another potential intake of members into supported recovery at 5 WAYS is inspiring.
Jo Byrden, Manager of 5 WAYS said: “It was great to see 5 WAYS regulars talking positively with those in rehab about the benefits of 5 WAYS and the peer support and friendships that form at the venue.”
Jo continued: “We are hoping to provide regular events throughout the year with St. Anne’s and other recovery services in Leeds. We are already planning a sports day and an outing on the canal.
“We feel it’s really important to be working in partnership with the other services to ensure that the recovery community in Leeds have a wide range of support available and to encourage peer support across the services.”
Before people headed back to St Anne’s, many were already putting their names down for 5 WAYS activities. Some to attend the Wednesday yoga classes and a couple of people signed up for courses due to start in June.
5 WAYS to Wellbeing @ the Recovery Academy is the Leeds hub for those in recovery from alcohol and/or drugs. It is based on Westfield Road, just off Burley Road.
