Staff at the Step Forward Tees Valley project in Hartlepool will step forward themselves to take part in the town’s 5km Race for Life charity run in the summer.
Step Forward Tees Valley is funded by the European social fund and the national lottery, through the big lottery fund.
Five women from the project, which supports local people to overcome the complex reasons preventing them from finding work, are hoping to raise money for cancer research.
Lisa Metcalfe, Team Leader at SFTV, said: “We wanted to do something together, that was meaningful, and at the same time raise awareness and donations for a good cause.”
Lisa will be joined in the run by Emma Taylor, Samantha Cutting, Cheryl Gooding and Louise Pickard.
“We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and we want to join others to beat cancer.”
And Lisa added participating together displayed team work and promoted health and wellbeing, helping to “boost morale through exercise”.
The run begins at 10.30am on Sunday 1st July, at Seaton sea front, Hartlepool.
